The Taliban have long used narcotics as their main source of revenue. Without the poppy crop, they may never have grown to be the massive organisation that they are today that was capable of toppling the Coalition backed Afghani government.

The illegal narcotics trade constitutes one of the main financial sources of the insurgency groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but, more importantly, it feeds narco-terror, globally. With Pakistan sharing a largely porous border with Afghanistan, it has served as a transit corridor for drug traffickers who have established smuggling networks into Europe and India so as to ensure a steady supply of narcotics and weapons.

The growing Serbian private militia, Crveni Vukovi (CVM), led by MI6 most wanted Miloš Bojović, continues its narcotics operations in Eastern Serbia. With Bojović associating himself with several terrorist groups, his expansion has now taken him to the global stage, where he seeks cooperation with both the Afghan, and more urgently, the Pakistan Taliban, as well as various militant groups across central Asia.

Having already formed ties with the Azearian Front of Dagestan (AFD), if CVM were to align with the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), it has the potential to rapidly become one of the most dangerous narco organisations in the world.

The advanced production and distribution of opium that could be achieved through the cooperation of these two groups would have a devastating effect on Eastern Europe and Central Asia alike. Organised crime and narco-militia organisations, already prevalent in these areas, could easily destabilise central governments and further expand the narco-terror web.

That is unless these ties can be severed.

In 48 hours, a contingent of TF29, JCTSF will be covertly deployed to South Waziristan, right on the Afghan/Pakistan border, where a meeting between drug lords from the TTP and representatives of the CVM is rumoured to be taking place.
