Operation Namsos

13-14 July 2024: Combat Mission, Catterick OBUA

Location: Duju, Habilah District, West Darfur, Sudan

Following the events of Operation Arakan and the abduction of the British Ambassador to Sudan Sir Edward Thatch, teams from G Squadron SAS and its counterparts from USSF  ODA 147, are tasked with the safe recovery of the British diplomat.

Latest intel shows that Azearian backed militias are using all means to destabilise and undermine the Sudanese hold on the now disputed territory. Bomb making cells have increased attacks in the last month causing large scale casualties amongst both military and the civilian population.

Simultaneously these militias are acting as organised crime groups, bringing through weapons and drugs on a huge scale. CHIS assets on the ground point to this operation being coordinated by a small, but well equipped command cell, utilising IEDs to create the necessary confusion, therefore allowing others to smuggle in the drugs and equipment to fund the militias.

Alongside this, SIGINT suggests the formation of dedicated cells conducting kidnap and assassination operations against Sudanese and international diplomats.

UK and US Special Forces have been tasked to find, fix and finish all elements involved in these actions, with a high priority on recovering intelligence from SSE that may lead to the recovery of the British ambassador.
