Operation Compass

10-12 April 2026: Combat Mission, The Trees

Location: IVO Debanga

Chad’s  Azearian state regime has long been suspected to be running a proxy war against its Sudanese neighbours in an attempt to destabilise the region. Azearian intelligence has armed, trained and embedded irregular forces along Chads eastern borders, where fighters routinely cross the border conducting raids, sabotage and assassinations inside Sudan, before withdrawing under the cover of terrain and the civilian population.

Chad has maintained a deniability until recently, the last 6 months has seen the situation escalate with insurgent activity intensifying and many border settlements being completely over run by Chadian supported fighters.

In early March the town of Nyala was attacked with ballistic missiles decimating the local infrastructure. Forensic examination of the targeted sites has determined that in fact the missiles were short range ballistic missiles of Chinese origin namely DF-15 SRBM; these systems are heavily used by the Chinese PLA.

Vehicle mounted launch platforms operated on site to avoid electronic detection, meant that locating the actual launch point was almost impossible.

Increased satellite surveillance proved ineffective until 2 weeks ago when a burst signal was detected ptior to what is now know to be a SRBM launch via remote signal control. These strikes hit the city of Al-Fashir in south western Sudan striking key government facilities and a major hospital.

The signal location has been tracked to a localised area IVO Debanga in eastern Chad. A rugged mountainous area in striking distance of the border.

JSOCTF has given the green light for a covert incursion into the region to locate and destroy what is suspected to be the command-and-control centre for these SRBM systems.

This is a highly volatile operation due to the previously agreed terms with the Chadian Regime. But in light of the sheer number of civilian casualties and the potential that these strikes are in preparation for larger irregular military action from Chadian fighters, the Sudanese Government has given full permission for TF42 to launch the operation from Sudan where JSOCTF maintain border protection is support of Sudanese forces.
