Location: Lazarev Mountains, Bor District, Eastern Serbia

The Serbian private militia known as Crveni Vukovi (CVM) was declared a terrorist organisation by NATO in 2020. Miloš Bojović, founder of CVM, is still evading capture, despite the best efforts of UK and Romanian special forces during the events of Operation Arcadia in November 2023.

Since then, Eastern Serbia has become a warzone. Bojović has managed to rally several militias and smaller terrorist groups with the promise of future proofing their financial situations by utilising his huge narcotics operation. BBC journalists on the ground have reported that since December, Bor District has “effectively become a Narco-state” with Bojović heading up the entire operation, and CVM, now numbering hundreds, policing the district of some 100,000 people.

Zadarski Vukovi (ZW), the pro-West paramilitary, continues its operations against the CVM militia. With newly supplied equipment and ammunition from the UK, and an influx of fighters, the organisation has become the only real deterrent against the expansion of Bojović’s plan into other regions of Serbia and across the border into Romania. 

Up until now, the Serbian government has all but ignored NATO reports of the situation in Bor District, choosing instead to withdraw any and all security forces away from the remote areas. However, HUMINT from Zadarski Vukovi has confirmed that Bojović has recently been in contact with senior members of the Azearian Front of Dagestan (AFD), potentially even Akhmed Basayev, the leader of the infamous terrorist group.

The possibility of Azearian terror groups expanding into yet another region has triggered a response from NATO, who in turn have authorised the Joint Counter Terrorism Security Force (JCTSF) to once again conduct operations against the Azearian threat.
